This work presents the numerical analysis of natural fiber reinforced composites (from renewable sources), to evaluate the mechanical behavior of Bio-composites and elucidated the role of micro-mechanical analytical models (Rule of Mixtures and Halpin-Tsai models). Specifically, this study is carried out to perform the Multi-scale modeling and simulation of Biocomposite that constitute of sisal fiber reinforcement and Epoxidized Soybean-Oil (ESO) based matrix. In general, it is difficult to predict the effective properties of natural fiber reinforced composites due to its heterogeneous properties. The Representative Volume Element (RVE) model is capable to estimate the effective properties of Bio-composites. Therefore, RVE model is designed and analyzed based on micro-mechanics by taking the individual properties of fiber and matrix as an input. As a result, the effective properties of Bio-composite can be obtained. Subsequently, a 3-D model of Bio-composite laminated plate behavior is analyzed based on macro-mechanics by taking the effective properties of Bio-composite obtained from micro-mechanical analysis. The obtained effective properties of Bio-composite are validated with the theoretical (Rule of Mixtures) results. The micro-mechanical analysis is carried out using the Digimat (Multi-scale modeling and simulation tool) and macro-mechanical analysis is performed using Ansys software. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd. Multi-scale modeling and simulation of natural fiber reinforced composites (Bio-composites)

This work was focused on finding the groundnut shell (GNS) gasification performance in a fluidized bed gasifier with bubbling air as gasification medium. GNS in powder form (a mixture of different particle size as given in table 8 in the article) was gasified using naturally available river sand as bed material, top of the bed feeding, conventional charcoal as bed heating medium, and two cyclones for proper cleaning and cooling the product gas. Experiments were performed using different operating conditions such as equivalence ratio (ER) between 0.29 and 0.33, bed temperature between 650°C and 800°C, and feedstock feeding rate between 36 and 31.7 kg/h. Different parameters were evaluated to study the gasifier performance such as gas yield, cold gas efficiency, carbon conversion efficiency (CCE), and high heating value. The most suitable ER value was found to be 0.31, giving the most stable bed temperature profile at 714.4°C with 5–10\% fluctuation. Cold gas efficiency and CCE at optimal ER of 0.31 was found to be 71.8\% and 91\%, respectively. © 2018, © 2018 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Groundnut shell gasification performance in a fluidized bed gasifier with bubbling air as gasification medium

Cracks and multiple voids resulting from manufacturing processes interact with each other and severely affect the fracture phenomenon of piezoelectric components. These geometrical discontinuities degrade the service performance and lower the reliability of the piezoelectric devices. Therefore, the present work predicts fatigue-cracking behavior of piezo-electric structures in existence of multiple geometrical discontinuities under cyclic thermal-electrical-mechanical loads using extended finite element method (XFEM). Thermal interaction integrals approach and Stroh formalism are applied for estimating stress intensity factors (SIFs). Modified hoop SIF criterion has been utilized to predict crack growth direction under quasi-static fatigue loading conditions. © 2019 Elsevier Ltd

Thermo-electro-mechanical fatigue crack growth simulation in piezoelectric solids using XFEM approach

This study is focused on harvesting wind energy from gust produced by trains, that are moving inside tunnels by placing Savonius rotors alongside the trains. Numerical simulation shows that the conventional S shaped Savonius rotor fails to harvest energy under such conditions and hence a new design is proposed to generate useful power without compromising the efficiency of the moving trains. The new turbine design is evaluated to optimize its parameters such as diameter and location with respect to train, considering SMRT's (Singapore Mass Rapid Transit) circle line in Singapore. This unconventional energy production can be a viable energy solution to provide power to electronic components and tunnel lighting. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd

Modified Savonius wind turbine for harvesting wind energy from trains moving in tunnels

In this article, we compile the work done by various mathematicians on the topic of the fixed divisor of a polynomial. This article explains most of the results concisely and is intended to be an exhaustive survey. We present the results on fixed divisors in various algebraic settings as well as the applications of fixed divisors to various algebraic and number theoretic problems. The work is presented in an orderly fashion so as to start from the simplest case of Z, progressively leading up to the case of Dedekind domains. We also ask a few open questions according to their context, which may give impetus to the reader to work further in this direction. We describe various bounds for fixed divisors as well as the connection of fixed divisors with different notions in the ring of integervalued polynomials. Finally, we suggest how the generalization of the ring of integer-valued polynomials in the case of the ring of n × n matrices over Z (or a Dedekind domain) could lead to the generalization of fixed divisors in that setting. © 2019, Institut Camille Jordan. A survey on fixed divisors

Charging an Electric Vehicle wirelessly is the latest technology being developed for the electric vehicles replacing the traditional way of plugging to the supply. In this paper, authors explained how to integrate Power Line Communication along with wireless power transfer in EV. The entire system is implemented in ADS simulation software. We are adapting to magnetic resonance coupling method for wireless power transfer in EV. The overall ideology of the project is to design an innovative system which involves higher power transfer and implement smart communication system between vehicle and the grid while following the latest magnetic resonance charging standards., © 2019 The Authors. published by EDP Sciences.

Development of wireless charging system along with power line communication used in Electric Vehicles

In this letter, we study a few properties of Complex Conjugate Pair Sums (CCPSs) and Complex Conjugate Subspaces (CCSs). Initially, we consider an LTI system whose impulse response is one period data of CCPS. For a given input x(n), we prove that the output of this system is equivalent to computing the first order derivative ofx(n).Further, with some constraints on the impulse response, the system output is also equivalent to the second order derivative. With this, we show that a fine edge detection in an image can be achieved using CCPSs as impulse response over Ramanujan Sums (RSs). Later computation of projection for CCS is studied. Here the projection matrix has a circulant structure, which makes the computation of projections easier. Finally, we prove that CCS is shift-invariant and closed under the operation of circular cross-correlation. © 2019 IEEE.

On complex conjugate pair sums and complex conjugate subspaces

This paper presents a graph based methodology for increasing the channel capacity of Virtual-Multiple Input Multiple Output (V-MIMO) defined over a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). A fully connected graph mathcal G (mathcal V , mathcal E , mathcal W ) is defined for a WSN. Then, we propose a new clustering algorithm based on the Fiedler vector of the graph mathcal G which divides the sensor nodes mathcal V into twoclusters (transmitting and receiving antennas). The links between these two clusters results in V-MIMO network. Next, a Modified Maximum Spanning Tree Search algorithm (MMASTS) is proposed on V-MIMO to enhance the average channel capacity. Simulation performance of average channel capacity and uncoded Bit Error Rate (BER) are plotted using different precoding techniques like Zero Forcing (ZF) and Minimum Mean Square Error (MMSE). These are also used for comparing the performance of proposed Fiedler vector based clustering with k- means clustering. © 2019 IEEE.

A graph based clustering and preconditioning of V-MIMO wireless sensor networks

In this paper a compact Ultra Wide Band filter with notch at WLAN frequency is designed. The filter is a designed using coupled lines arranged in inter digital capacitor form. The filter is designed to allow microwave signals in the range of 2GHz to 7GHz with a notch at 5GHz. The measured results show the notch at 5GHz with transmission coefficient of-14dB. With uniform group delay in pass band and nonlinear group delay at notch frequency. © 2019 The Authors. published by EDP Sciences.

There is a need to explore environment friendly fuels and its' performance for the internal combustion engine due to growing consumption of fossil fuel which is contributing in increasing the air pollution levels of earth atmosphere. The purpose of the study is to optimize the factors which are responsible for the performance of engine as well as emission analysis in case of cassia tora biodiesel blends in direct injection diesel engine using RSM optimization technique. Four input parameters have been considered for the present analysis which includes engine load, injection timing, injection pressure, and blend percentage to optimize engine's performance and emission characteristics. This study includes all factors having five codded levels. RSM is used to get optimum amalgamation of the above stated factors to optimize output variables (UHC, BTE, and NOx). Hence, cassia tora biodiesel may leads in achieving better environmental performance with improved commercial value. The experimental design used in the study is based on central composite rotating design (CCRD) matrix. The best combination of input parameters is recorded at 15 obTDC injection timing of fuel, 221 bar injection pressure of fuel, 40% mixing of cassia tora with diesel, and 47% engine load which results in maximum BTE and minimum UHC and NOx emissions of the engine. Experimental and optimized results of the output responses at optimum input parameters are compared and found to be in the suggested error range. From the future point of view, same work can be extended by utilizing the same biodiesel with some changes in the input parameters and output responses by utilizing the RSM technique and making its comparison with other techniques. © 2018 Elsevier Ltd
