The recent experimental measurement of the gamma to 3 pi coupling constant is compared with the prediction of an extended PCAC hypothesis. Consistency is then sought between the omega rho pi coupling constant, as obtained from an analogue of the GT relation for vector mesons, and what is predicted by the low-energy theorems. A remarkable relation for the dimensionless coupling constant g(rho pi pi) emerges, mod g(rho pi pi) mod =2 pi. The authors also find that the coupling constant g(omega rho 0 pi 0), as obtained from the GT relation for vector mesons, does not support an omega pi pi pi contact term. © 1987 IOP Publishing Ltd.

The γ3Π coupling constant, the goldberger-treiman relation, vector mesons and the Ω3Π contact term

In this paper gluon admixtures in neutral pseudoscalar mesons are considered to test the quark-line rule for the reactions πp→η∆, ηn, p(Formula Presented)→ππη, etc. It is found that the experimental data on these reactions support the possibility of a small gluonium admixture in the η and η' states. Our results have also been used to predict some electromagnetic decay rates of the pseudoscalar glueball states l(1440) along with those of η and η'. © 1986 The Institute of Physics.

Gluon admixtures in the 0¯ neutral mesons: A survey of the quark-line rule

Recently, Chanowitz has derived two constraints which become powerful if the experimental limits on Γ(ι → γγ)/ B(ι → κκπ)2 and Γ(ι → φ{symbol}γ) · B(ι → κκπ) are improved. It is pointed out that given the present limit on Γ(ω → ιγ), such a possibility appears unlikely. © 1986.

Radiative decays and SU(3) flavour structure of iota (1460)

Some coupled nonlinear equations are considered for studying traveling-wave solutions. By introducing a stream function ψ it is shown that if one of the solutions is of the form v≡v(x - ct), the other also must be of the form u≡u (x - ct). In addition, the possibility of including cubic nonlinear terms has been considered and such a system, assuming that the solutions are of the traveling-wave type, has been solved. © 1986 American Institute of Physics.

Traveling-wave solutions and the coupled Korteweg-de Vries equation

The mixing effect on S*(975), epsilon (1300) and G(1590) is investigated by identifying the G(1590) as a possible candidate for the scalar gluonium state. This enables one to explain the largeness of the G to eta eta rate relative to G to pi pi and G to KK.

Remarks on scalar solitons and the virial constraint

The author considers the possibility of the existence of charmonium-four-quark states to explain the recently observed anomalies in psi decays. The photoproduction cross section appears to give a reasonable signal for the production of the charmonium-pion state.

We obtain, by making use of the anomaly term in the divergence of the flavor-singlet axial-vector-current, new spectral-function sum rules for the pseudoscalar density in a chiral-SU(3) × SU(3) × U3(1) framework. The positivity conditions on the spectral representations of the pseudoscalar densitites lead to a new bound on the quark-condensate term 0|q»q|0<-(279 MeV)3 (q=u, d, and s) corresponding to bare-current-quark values of mu=md5 MeV and m150 MeV. © 1983 The American Physical Society.

Strong anomaly, spectral-density sum rules, and broken U(3)×U(3) symmetry

This paper discusses resonances of narrow width in the context of bound states embedded in the continuum spectrum of nonlocal potentials. Feshbach's theory of nuclear reactions leads directly to resonance theory, and we base our discussion here on the techniques he developed for shifting nuclear many-body aspects into effective single-particle nonlocal potentials. In our formulation, the many-body state of the compound nucleus is represented by a single-particle state. The basis for our discussion is a two channel model of a resonance of zero width, with a continuum bound state originating from the coupling of a bound state to the single-particle scattering state. We give a specific example of a model which leads to an arbitrarily narrow (nonzero width) resonance, and demonstrate that the width of the resonance produced by breaking the continuum bound state is proportional to (Λ-1)2, where the parameter Λ is such that Λ=1 corresponds to the condition necessary for the existence of a continuum bound state. Nonlocal potentials and resonances of narrow width

In this letter, we observe that if the E(1440) is identified as a glueball with pseudoscalar quantum numbers then its decay width can be significantly large, about as broad as that of the ρ{variant} meson, if not more. However, the possiblity of a narrow width cannot be rigorously ruled out. We also examine the sensitivity of the decay widths to the off-shell corrections as well as to the sign of the intermediate coupling constants. © 1982.
