Power domain NOMA SISO system achieve more capacity compared to OMA system for a given power. To enhance the overall system capacity, NOMA-MIMO based downlink system with superposition coding (SC) coding is considered in this work. With the incorporation of MIMO, the detector subject to interuser as well as interantenna interference. Conventionally, after receiving the signal from the base station (BS), each user eliminates the interantenna interference using zero-forcing (ZF) based linear detector. This paper proposes low-complexity based QR-LRL detector to overcome jointly the interuser interference and interantenna interference. The performance of the proposed detector under BER and capacity metrics compared with ZFSIC and ML detectors. Simulation results show that the proposed receiver guarantees near ML performance with lower complexity for NOMA-MIMO downlink systems. It presents the sumrate improvement for various MIMO configurations with different modulation orders. It also provides optimal power allocation factor $(alpha)$ to experience the same BER at both the near user (NU) and the far user (FU) using ZF and QR-LRL detector. © 2020 IEEE.

Low Complexity Based QR-LRL OSIC Detector for Downlink NOMA-MIMO Systems

In signal processing applications the information about the signal such as frequency (or) period is known a prior for most of the practical signals like ECG, EEG, speech, etc. Inspired by this, in this paper, we propose a new signal representation to estimate the period and frequency information of a given signal with low computational complexity. We achieve this by representing a finite-length discrete-time signal as a linear combination of signals belongs to Ramanujan subspaces. Further, we evaluate the performance of the proposed representation with a simulated example and also by addressing the problem of reducing Power Line Interference (PLI) in an ECG signal. Finally, for a given integer-valued signal, we show that the computational complexity of the proposed transform is quite low in comparison with the existing transforms, and it is quite comparable for a given real (or) complex-valued signal. © 2020 IEEE.

Signal Representation Using Ramanujan Subspaces Utilizing A Prior Signal Information

This review article, dedicated to the bicentenary celebration of Sir George Gabriel Stokes’ birthday, presents the state-of-the-science of terminal fall velocity, highlighting his rich legacy from the perspective of fluvial hydraulics. It summarizes the fluid drag on a particle and the current status of the drag coefficient from both the theoretical and empirical formulations, highlighting the three major realms—Stokesian, transitional and Newtonian realms. The force system that drives the particle motion falling through a fluid is described. The response of terminal fall velocity to key factors, which include particle shape, hindered settling, and turbulence (nonlinear drag, vortex trapping, fast-tracking, and effects of loitering), is delineated. The article puts into focus the impact of terminal fall velocity on fluvial hydraulics, discussing the salient role that the terminal fall velocity plays in governing the hydrodynamics of the sediment threshold, bedload transport, and suspended load transport. Finally, an innovative perspective is presented on the subject’s future research track, emphasizing open questions.

Terminal fall velocity: the legacy of Stokes from the perspective of fluvial hydraulics

—Machine Translation (MT) is a programmed conversion in which computer software is utilized to convert manuscripts from one Natural Language (like English) to a different Language (such as Hindi). To process any such conversion, through human or through automatic means, the conversion must be established such that it reinstate the complete sense of a manuscript from its base (source) linguistic into the target language. In this paper, the study of prevailing evaluation systems along with assessing their performance is achieved through the similarity metrics. Moreover, the authors have also presented an improved technique of translation employing features of Natural Language Processing and consequently, to acquire an enhanced and more accurate assessing Machine Translation system, a corpus is selected and the outcomes are compared with the prevailing methods. Besides this, two well-known systems such as Google and Bing decoders are selected to inquire and to assess the study of metrics called similarity metrics through Assessment of Text Essential Characteristics score. This is found to provide more accuracy than prevailing methods. Furthermore, evaluations are tested under various metrics systems like Jaccard similarity metrics, cosine similarity metrics, and sine metrics to deliver enhanced accuracy than prevailing methods.&nbsp;

Performance Enhancement of Machine Translation Evaluation Systems for English – Hindi Language Pair

In a high power, grid connected photovoltaic (PV) array system a large number of PV modules need to be connected in series and parallel to get the required power level and dc bus voltage of around 700 - 760 V. Commercially available PV modules are provided with bypass diodes across each string of about 20-cells in, say, a 60-cells module. Among the series connected modules, some may get partially shaded mainly because of dust particles, clouds, bird droppings etc. The partially shaded module(s) or string(s) may get bypassed through the bypass diode(s), especially at higher output current. This may also cause multiple power peaks and may pose difficulty for the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm. As a result the overall power yield of the PV array may reduce. In this paper a circuit topology working on differential power processing (DPP) concept has been analysed. This topology employs an equalizer circuit which injects extra current in parallel with the shaded modules. This allows the series connected modules to operate at their individual maximum power points and the PV string sees a single peak in the power versus voltage curve. The present equalizer circuit topology has some additional advantages over various other equalizer topology reported in literature. Equalizer modeling equations in different modes of operation are reproduced and working of converter circuit is described based on derived dc equivalent circuit. The transformer turn ratio effect of the implemented converter topology is analyzed and discussed. Matlab simulation and experimental results show the efficacy of the employed converter. © 2019 IEEE.

SPV Power Optimization Using Half Bridge Inverter and Voltage Multiplier

Surface with inherent self-cleaning characteristics is often deemed and desired. However, lack of durability and high cost limits the applicability of such surfaces in a real-life scenario. In present work, we report the development of durable and cost-effective nanocomposite coatings using silica particles (˜ 250 nm) derived from agricultural waste, rice-husk and different fractions of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS). Developed coatings showed the presence of hierarchical structures with nanoscale protrusions. The surface morphology of the coatings was significantly influenced by the PDMS content with roughness factor following an inverse correlation. Static and dynamic contact angles increased with decreasing PDMS content with maximum values observed to be in excess of 160°. Simultaneously, the contact angle hysteresis (< 5° to 20°) and tilting angle (5° to 60°) were also significantly influenced by the PDMS fraction. The observed results are related with ability to retain stable Cassie state and pinning of the liquid-air interface by nano protrusions. Droplet impingement tests and critical wetting angle calculations showed transition from Cassie to metastable wetting state for coatings with higher PDMS. Durability studies performed under different modes indicated a trade-off with self-cleaning ability, highlighting an optimum composition possessing required characteristics. The selected coating subjected to weathering test showed due resilience under outdoor conditions. The present work showed that the agricultural waste can be effectively used for developing low-cost high-end product possessing exceptional functionalities. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.

Multidimensional durability of superhydrophobic self-cleaning surface derived from rice-husk ash

In this article, Frequency Modulated Thermal Wave Imaging (FMTWI) [1–6] is introduced for the first time for determining power distribution of electromagnetic waves on plane surfaces. The advantage with this technique is that we can extract multiple amplitude and phase images from a single run of experiment. The applied excitation signal in this technique is a frequency modulated chirp signal instead of a single frequency signal used in conventional lock-in infrared (IR) thermography [7–11]. The thermal images obtained using FMTWI can be used qualitatively, e.g., to detect field leakage near electromagnetic junctions and microstrip feed lines. As a practical demonstration of this technique, an example of 2 × 2 patch antenna array at 8 GHz is considered. First, amplitude images at various modulation frequencies are obtained. Next, signal to noise ratio (SNR) values at each frequency are calculated. It is seen that SNR is lower at higher frequencies. It is observed that at higher modulation frequencies, micro-strip lines feeding the individual patch antennas of the array, are not visible in amplitude images, while at lower frequencies they are clearly visible Mathematical modeling of the microwave absorption screen has also been carried out to show variations of incident, reflected, and transmitted powers as a function of screen surface impedance. Frequency modulated thermal wave imaging for visualizing power density of electromagnetic waves on plane surfaces

In this paper a dual band butterfly shaped planar antenna is proposed. The structure consist of two trapezoid located symmetrically to the y axis. An inductive stub is used for impedance matching. The measured antenna resonates at 2.9GHz and 5.32 GHz with impedance bandwidth of 63.6 MHz, 188.7MHz respectively. The measured gain of the proposed antenna is 2.5dBi at 2.9 GHz and 5.5dBi at 5.32GHz. © 2019 IEEE.

Dual Band Butterfly Planar Antenna for WLAN Applications

This abstract reports the realization of p-type conduction in Sb (5 at.%): Mg0.10Zn0.90O (SMZO) grown in different growth ambient and then fabrication of SMZO/n-Si based UV heterojunction photodetector grown by dual ion beam sputtering (DIBS) system. The fabricated photodetectors were then probed for the effect of growth ambient using current–voltage (I–V) and photoresponse measurement on photodetector properties. © Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2019.

Mgzno based uv heterojunction photodetector fabricated using dual ion beam sputtering

Voltage stability of a power system is the ability of the same to maintain a steady voltage at all the system buses even after the system is subjected to some disturbance. This steady voltage is compared from some initial system state when there was no disturbance in the system. By far shunt capacitors were found to be the simplest and most economical method for correcting the distribution system voltage. But they do suffer from certain limitations which are inherent, as far as voltage stability is concerned. The paper studies the voltage stability of a distribution system and proposes placement of DG units with sufficient capacity and at suitable sites so as to improve the voltage stability of the distribution system. © 2019, Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.
