The Life Sciences department at Shiv Nadar University was established in 2012 and is currently spread out in academic blocks (A and B) and Research block building. In a very short span of time Department of Life Sciences achieved many prestigious milestones. Department has maximum number of extramural research grants (more than 25) in the University, has extremely good publications in reputed journals. The labs are equipped with avant-grade instruments and can be compared with any research lab globally.
The department currently consists of 11 regular faculty members, 1 Visiting Professor and 2 inspire fellows. The research expertise includes the field of molecular & cell biology, virology, parasitology, microbiology, neurobiology, plant biology, protein and stress biology, cancer biology and bioinformatics.
The department represents a broad range of research interests with the special emphasis on basic and translational research. The students, postdoctoral fellows, staff, and faculty of the department form a very cohesive and interactive group. The department regularly invites renowned scientists from different research streams for seminars and scientific discussions.

Global academic collaborations that Shiv Nadar University has with Carnegie Mellon University, Duke University, etc will help the students to have a better exposure and understanding, widening the horizon of their development.
