The present article emphasizes the synthesis of Schiff base derived bis(1,2,3-triazolyl-γ-propyltriethoxysilanes) (3a-3d) by utilizing an efficient and biocompatible Cu(I) catalyzed 'Click Chemistry' approach. All the synthesized compounds 3a-3d have been well-characterized by IR, NMR (1H and 13C) and HRMS spectroscopic techniques. Further, 3a was immobilized over silica nanosphere and the resultant hybrid nanoparticles were thoroughly examined by IR, XRD, EDX, TGA, and SEM analysis. The photophysical properties of 3a and their hybrid nanoparticles were studied which showed dual recognition of Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions with negligible interference from other metal ions. Most importantly, hybrid nanoparticles have strong binding affinity towards Cu2+ and Fe3+ compared to compound 3a. All types of the binding interaction between chemosensors and metal ions, Cu2+ and Fe3+ got reversed upon addition of Na2EDTA. The interacting behaviour of 3a towards Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions has been studied by performing DFT calculations. © 2020 Elsevier B.V.

Schiff base derived bis-organosilanes: Immobilization on silica nanosphere and Cu2+ and Fe3+ dual ion sensing

In this paper, the maximum power point (MPP) of a photovoltaic (PV) source is estimated using the proposed explicit current-voltage (I- V) expression. The conversion of implicit expression of current to explicit expression of I-V equation is carried out using Maclaurin series expansion. The explicit I-V function of the PV module is validated with the I-V characteristics obtained from an implicit expression by considering various types of modules. The MPP of a PV module is estimated from the proposed explicit function of an I-V relationship under uniform and non-uniform conditions using MATLAB program. The MPP of a module under different solar irradiance conditions estimated using the proposed method is compared with the MPP obtained using other different existing methods. The results show that not only the calculated MPP of a module is close to the actual MPP values but also the computational time to obtain the MPP is less. The percentage (%) of deviation of calculated maximum power obtained by using the proposed technique compared to experimentally obtained maximum power is minimal. Also, the accuracy of the method, which is proposed here, is used and verified to calculate the global MPP of a PV system under different shading patterns. IEEE

A Novel Approach for Direct MPP Estimation of a PV Module Under Different Irradiation Conditions

This work brings an innovative design of a flyswatter shaped antenna for an 8-element linear array with Butler Matrix (BM) as the beamforming network and also proposes four port cross-over. The proposed flyswatter shaped antenna resonates at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. The results of all components (such as quadrature couplers, crossovers, phase shifters) used to realize the design of beam forming network are presented. The proposed cross-over has insertion loss close to 2dB. The 8-element linear array is integrated on FR-4 substrate $\left(\varepsilon_{\mathrm{r}}=4.3 \quad \text { and } \quad \text { height }=1.6 \quad \mathrm{~mm}\right)$ with BM based beamforming network to produces eight different beams at $-55^{\circ},-36,-21^{\circ},-7^{\circ}, 55^{\circ}, 36,21^{\circ}$, and 7°. The reflection coefficients and isolation at respective ports are less than -15 dB at the operating frequency and side lobes of radiation pattern are sufficiently low. This technique finds applications in IEEE 802.11 WLAN, lower frequency bands of 5 G and LTE, and wearable devices. © 2021 IEEE.

Flyswatter Shaped Antenna for 8 Element Beam Forming Network utilizing Butler Matrix

A new X-type, structurally twisted, highly soluble TAB-BODIPY based electron acceptor (BDY) is designed and synthesized. Organic solar devices are fabricated using poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl) (P3HT) as donor polymer and BDY as an electron acceptor. A promising power conversion efficiency of 4.46% is obtained for this new class of acceptor, which is the first-ever reported on TAB-BODIPY as a non-fullerene acceptor in organic solar cells. © 2021 International Solar Energy Society

Triarylborane-BODIPY conjugate: An efficient non-fullerene electron acceptor for bulk heterojunction organic solar cell

Machine learning is the key solution to many AI issues, but learning models rely heavily on specific training data. While a Bayesian setup can be used to incorporate some learning patterns with previous knowledge, those patterns can not access any organized world knowledge on requirements. The primary objective is to enable human-capable machines in ordinary everyday circumstances to estimate and make presumptions. In this paper we propose to respond to such common sense issues through a textual inference system with external, organized common sense graphs for explanatory inferences. The framework is based on a schematic map as a pair of questions and answers, a linked subgraph from the semantine to the symbolic space of knowledge-based external information. It displays a schematic map with a new network graphic module for information knowledge and performance with graph representations. LSTMs and graphical networks with a hierarchical attention-based direction are the basis of our model. It is flexible and understandable from the intermediate attention scores, leading to confident results. We also achieved state-of-the-art reliability on CommonsenseQA, a broad database of common sense reasoning utilizing ConceptNet as the only external tool for BERT-based models. © 2021 Institute of Physics Publishing. Knowledge graph augmented advanced learning models for commonsense reasoning

The present study includes the free vibration analysis of geometrically imperfect and discontinuous porous functionally graded bi-directional plate (B-FGP) resting on an elastic foundation in a thermal environment. The geometric discontinuity is present in the form of a circular cutout at the center of the plate whereas initial imperfections have been incorporated in terms of geometric as well as porosity inclusions. The kinematic formulation is based on the refined non-polynomial trigonometric higher-order shear deformation theory (HSDT). A new porosity model has been developed to incorporate the influence of the microstructure defect on the effective material properties of the B-FGP. The gradation of properties is done along the thickness (z-direction) as well as the length (x-direction) of the plate using the power-law distribution. A new expression has been given to obtain the solution of the non-linear temperature rise along the thickness of the B-FGP. A (Formula presented.) continuous Lagrangian four-noded quadrilateral element has been used to perform the finite element formulation with eight degrees of freedom per node. The equations of motion have been derived using a variational approach. The validation and comparative study have been done to authenticate the present formulation. The influence of the cutout radius, elastic foundation parameters, porosity, thermal environment, geometric imperfection, and volume fraction indexes has been discussed in detail. © 2021 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

Mechanics Based Design of Structures and Machines

Vibration response of a geometrically discontinuous bi-directional functionally graded plate resting on elastic foundations in thermal environment with initial imperfections

Retailer revenue is significantly impacted by item placement in retail stores. Notably, placement of items in the premium slots (i.e., slots with increased visibility/accessibility) improves the probability of sale w.r.t. item placement in non-premium slots. Moreover, customers often tend to buy sets of items (i.e., itemsets) instead of individual purchases. In this paper, we address the problem of maximizing retailer revenue by determining the placement of itemsets in different types of slots with varied premiumness. Our key contributions are as follows. First, we introduce the notion of premiumness of retail slots and discuss the issue of itemset placement in slots with varied premiumness. Second, we propose two efficient schemes, namely P remiumness and R evenue-based I temset P lacement (PRIP) and P remiumness and A verage R evenue-based I temset P lacement (PARIP), for placing itemsets with varying revenue in slots with varied premiumness. Third, we perform a detailed performance analysis using both real and synthetic datasets to showcase the effectiveness of our proposed schemes. We also perform a comprehensive mathematical analysis of our proposed schemes w.r.t. the complexity analysis. © 2013 IEEE.

A Retail Itemset Placement Framework Based on Premiumness of Slots and Utility Mining

In this work, a novel triband antenna is developed for wireless local area network (WLAN), worldwide interoperability for microwave access (WiMAX), and Bluetooth application. The proposed antenna is printed on a low-cost FR-4 substrate and has an overall size of 25 mm × 40 mm × 1.6 mm. Coplanar waveguide (CPW) line with characteristic impedance of 50 Ω is used as feed for the designed antenna. A prototype of this antenna is fabricated and tested to validate the simulation results. The measured result shows that the antenna has the triple-band response with frequency bands that correspond to S11&lt;−10 dB 2.36 − 3.17, 3.8 − 4.35, and 5.69 − 6.02 GHz. The measured gains of the antenna at resonant frequencies of 2.61, 4.115 and 5.85 GHz are 0.756, 0.925 and 1.589 dBi, respectively. Maximum decrement in measured gain is only 0.671 dB which is attributed to losses from connectors and cables. A novel approach, based on a combination of a cap-shaped ground plane and gap coupling technique in the form of an interdigital capacitor (IDC), is used to achieve the characteristic of triple frequency bands. Finally, the utility of the proposed antenna is checked with a four-element MIMO antenna. © 2021 IETE.

Triple Band Compact Monopole Antenna for Applications Like Bluetooth, WiMAX and WLAN

5G is expected to support enhanced Mobile broadband (eMBB), massive Machine type communication (mMTC), and ultra-Reliable low latency communication (uRLLC). 5G vision relies on a successful roll out of mm Wave frequency technology. Beam forming technology has been introduced in 5G to compensate path losses due to mm Wave frequencies. Beam forming aims to generate different beams for different User Equipment (UE) using an array of antenna elements at the base station to communicate between different users. The effective beams undergo minimum power loss and interference, and are aimed to direct towards the UE. In this paper the beams were formed and linked to the user by collecting the location coordinates of UE and cross-check the most effective beam for that UE based on the deciding parameters. The handover of UE between base stations has been simulated which involves tracking of the UE by the two base stations in the small cells. The simulation has also been carried out for the case where the height of the user is not fixed. © 2021 IEEE.

Beam Steering and Tracking for 5G Mobile Communication Network in mm Wave Frequency Band

Friction stir spot welding (FSSW) is a solid-state welding process, wherein the properties of a weld joint are influenced by the state of friction and localised thermodynamic conditions at the tool-workpiece interface. An issue well-known about FSSW joints is their lack of reliability since they abruptly delaminate at the weld-faying interface (WFI). This study explores the origins of the delamination of multiple lap welded aluminium alloy (AA 5754-H111) sheets joined by FSSW at different rotational speeds typically used in industry. Experimental techniques such as the small punch test (SPT), Vickers hardness test, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Scanning Acoustic Microscope (SAM), Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and Frequency-Modulated Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy (FM-KPFM) were employed. The experimental results revealed that a complex interplay of stress-assisted metallurgical transformations at the intersection of WFI and the recrystallised stir zone (RSZ) can trigger dynamic precipitation leading to the formation of Al3Mg2 intermetallic phase, while metallic oxides and nanopits remain entrapped in the WFI. These metallurgical transformations surrounded by pits, precipitates and oxides induces process instability which in turn paves way for fast fracture to become responsible for delamination. © 2021 The Authors
