Upendra earned his Ph.D. in Science and Technology of Mesosphase and Molecular Materials from the University of Calabria, Italy. He obtained his M.Tech. degree in Opto-electronics from Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. Post his Ph.D., Upendra was a Post-Doctoral Fellow for one year at University of Calabria, Italy. Later, in January 2013 he moved to University of St. Andrews, Scotland, United Kingdom as a Post-Doctoral Fellow to join Organic Semiconductor Centre to carry out his research work on different Novel Organic Semiconductors for their Organic Electronic Application with emphasis on Solar Cell. In October 2013, Upendra moved from St. Andrews to join Interdisciplinary Centre for Energy Research at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore as DST Inspire faculty fellow to work on Organic and Perovskite solar cells in October 2013 where he worked till April 15, 2019. At IISc. Upendra has guided one M.Tech. and was co-guiding two Ph.D. students.
