Dr. Trishita Ray Barman is an assistant professor of Economics at Shiv Nadar University. She has a Ph.D. from Indian Statistical Institute in Quantitative Economics; her thesis is on the analyses and determination of optimal tax policy when environmental pollution affects a public productive input in an endogenous growth framework. Before joining SNU, she has been a visiting faculty at TERI University for a year teaching Macroeconomics and Advanced Macroeconomics for the MA Economics programme. She has also worked as an Associate Fellow at The Energy and Resources Institute. Her research interest primarily lies in growth theory and public economics. Her current research focuses on benevolent and non-benevolent motives of governments in the provision of public goods. Teaching is one of her passions and she seeks to unravel the interconnections of the world to the students so that a subject can be understood in its proper context in relation to everything around.
