Bappaditya Gole has obtained his PhD in supramolecular chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) under the supervision of Prof. Partha Sarathi Mukherjee as an integrated PhD student. His doctoral research was focused on the supramolecular polymers, porous materials for catalysis, and sensing. His outstanding performance during master’s degree resulted in the Dr. A. Nagaraja Rao Medal, which is a dedicated award for the best student of the Integrated PhD program (MS level) in chemical sciences at the institute. Prior to joining Shiv Nadar University, he has carried out two post-doctoral research in internationally premier groups. The first one with Prof. Frank Würthner and Dr. Florian Beuerle at the University of Würzburg, Germany (2015-2016), where he was working on donor-acceptor based crystalline two-dimensional polymers for organic electronics. Subsequently, he received a prestigious Initiative D’Excellence (IdEx) international post-doctoral fellowship from the University of Bordeaux, France to pursue his second postdoctoral research with Prof. Ivan Huc and Dr. Yann Ferrand (2017-2020). In Bordeaux, his research was focussed on the dynamic conformational control of aromatic oligoamide foldamers in solution by external stimulus.
Dr. Gole has been working extensively on supramolecular chemistry, polymers, biomimetic chemistry, synthetic peptides, stimuli-responsive foldamer, and supramolecular self-assembled functional materials. His future research interest includes supramolecular polymers, self-assembled functional materials, and foldamers. He has published 28 papers in international high-quality journals and attended several conferences and meetings around the globe to present his research works.
