Prof. Bhattacharyya is a Distinguished Professor in Shiv Nadar University (greater Noida, India) and the Founder of Nonlinear Insights, which operates in the space of online executive education in Business Management domain. He obtained his doctoral degree from the Allahabad University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, a Fellow of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountant (London). He earned the Diploma in Management Accounting from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

Before joining SNU, he worked with Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad as its Director. Earlier he worked as a Professor in the IIM Calcutta, SPJIMR and IICA (Manesar, Gurugram) and as a director of the International Management Institute Kolkata. He also served the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India as Technical Director. Before shifting to academia in 1993, he held leadership positions in public sector enterprises and a multinational company for twenty years. He served SEBI committee on Disclosure and Accounting Standards and National Advisory Committee and Accounting Standards. Currently, he is a member of the Accounting Standards Board (ASB) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
