Professional Experience
Aadya Kaktikar is an Associate Professor in the Department of Art and Performing Arts at the Shiv Nadar University in India. An accomplished Odissi soloist with a career of over two decades, Aadya is also the author of Odissi Yaatra, which documents the revival of Odissi through the work of Guru Mayadhar Raut.
She has an MA in Teaching (Dance) from the Royal Academy of Dance, University of Surrey and is presently pursuing her Doctorate from the Department of Dance at Texas Woman's University. Working at the cusp of education, performance, history, and sociology of dance her research and teaching focus on teaching traditional dance forms in contemporary spaces. Aadya's special areas of interest are curriculum planning and assessment development for the performing arts.
Research Interests
Her research interests include post colonial history of dance and practice based research on dance and dance education.
